Drag queen Shangela has been hit with rape accusations. The former season 2 star of "RuPaul's Drag Race" was accused by HBO's "We're Here" crew Daniel McGarrigle of sexually assaulting him during a show filming in Ruston, Louisiana.
Daniel wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post, "I was raped by D.J. [Shangela's real name, Darius Jeremy Pierce], after the episode wrap party, during an HBO series I was filming." He then detailed the incident, "The night of the wrap party, I was invited by Shangela to ride to the bar with her, where we met other members of the cast and crew."
Once they arrived, Daniel claimed that Shangela "bought" him a drink, but he told her he "didn't drink." But Shangela insisted that she "already bought it, just to have one." So Daniel did have it.
"Not long after, she buys shots for a large group of crew members, and she brings me one too. She again tells me to take the drink. Not wanting to disappoint one of the stars/producers of the show, I again take the drink," Daniel recalled. "This happened multiple times throughout the hour or two I was there."
Daniel added that he was later "feeling pretty wasted." He remembered, "Next thing I knew, Shangela told me that I needed to come back to her room to help her pack for her flight the next day." He didn't feel it was "weird" because he "had been tasked to help the cast with whatever I could."
"So we pile into her shuttle van and head back to her room. By the time we got to her hotel, I was feeling pretty bad. We got up to her room, and I almost immediately started to feel like I'm gonna puke," Daniel explained. He said he then "ran to her bathroom and puked in her toilet," and he started feeling "embarrassed."
"But, she felt like a friend at that point," Daniel noted. "Shangela then tells me I can lay in her bed until I feel better." Daniel accepted the offer as "the cast hotel was different than the crew hotel, and [he] didn't feel much like moving."
Daniel added, "I remember crashing face first in her king bed, face buried in the cold pillow. Then I guess I passed out…." Then things turned messy as Daniel "woke up to D.J. on top of [him], rubbing his penis on [his] butthole."
Despite Daniel asking Shangela to stop, the drag queen "got real aggressive" and even told Daniel that "she knows I wanted it and that I was gonna take it." Daniel added, "He held me down and raped me. I tried to fight him off, but I was in no condition to fight him."
"I just laid there and took it. I guess I fell asleep because I woke up to D.J. pulling his bags out of the room to catch his flight. He tells me I can stay in the room until checkout. I laid there, trying to figure out what had just happened to me," Daniel recounted, before concluding his story, "And I realized… I was just raped."
Daniel decided to take it down a few moments after going public with the story. In the meantime, Shangela, who also starred in season 31 of "Dancing with the Stars," has yet to respond to the post.
